     The field for the 2009 Southern Pines Invitational has expanded to 16, featuring the return of Trip original Dennis McClane after a seven year hiatus.  Also returning after four years away is Randy Gibson.  The rest of the field have all been here before and are battle-tested and ready.  Click on the links below for each player's performance ratings and career statistics through 2008.             

Harvey "Papaw Jr." Abernethy. Despite his nickname, age has not diminished his skills.

Randy Gibson.  Back after a four-year hiatus, his points could be right. 

Greg Goddard  Proved to be the best player on tour last year in his only other start, he could dominate. 
Toby "Hoss Cartwright" Hyke.  Former Turtle winner and always in the hunt.
Mark "Cueball" Kimmet   This could be the year for one of the most consistent players and former Turtle winner.
Mike "Big Boy, Jr." King.  Proven Calcutta performer; he will have to overcome injuries to contend for the Turtle.
Greg "Loguemeister" Logue.  Hopes to be Turtle worthy again; has the nail in the wall and ready. 
Richard "Murdock" Matlock.  Two-time Turtle winner and the envy of the golfing world. 
 Dennis "The Menace" McClane.   Back again after a seven year hiatus, he could be a threat. 
Dan "The Man" Moore.   Turned in a Jean Claude van Damme-like performance last year to share the Turtle with Walton.  
Michael "Trick Hoser" Moser.  The Godfather of The Golf Trip, he's a proven player despite the one-year layoff.
Danny "Depot Stove" Pressley.  He can get hotter than a depot stove.  Back after missing last year's event for the high school prom.
Norman "The Total Package" Templeton.  One Hundred and forty pounds of pure dynamite, he's also returning after a year away. 
Tracy "Manhole" Thompson.   The man who brings his own trophies to the tournament, he hopes to claim The Turtle for his collection. 
Monty "Piledriver" Walton.  Turned in a clutch come-from-behind performance to grab a share of the Turtle last year. 
Michael "The Chairman" Wood    Two time winner who overcame excruciating injuries  the last time he was Turtle-worthy.
